What will the weather be like in Rome? ☀️🌇
September in Rome is warm and sunny, and perfect summer evenings. It’s one of the most beautiful times of year to be in the city. ✨
Where should I stay? 🏨
We recommend staying in central Rome!📍This is near the Spanish Steps or Trevi Fountain, which are central & walkable. We’ve listed some hotels in the travel section. Air bnb or VRBO is also another great option.
Which airport should we fly into? ✈️
Fly into Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). 🇮🇹 It’s the main international airport and the easiest option for transfers into the city.
What day should we arrive in Rome? 🗓️
We recommend arriving at least 1-2 days before the first scheduled event to allow time to settle in and adjust to the time difference. Calvin and Maddy will be in Rome by September 10th.
What should we wear? 💃
Welcome events: Elegant cocktail attire
Wedding day: Formal / black tie.
Think timeless, elevated, and romantic.
For sight seeing and walking around Rome,
make sure to wear flat shoes and light comfortable clothing.
Is the wedding on a Monday?
Yes! 😅 Even booking over a year in advance, this was one of the last days available for the Villa.
What currency should we use? 💵💵
Italy uses the Euro (€). Credit cards 💳 are widely accepted, but we recommend carrying some cash for taxis, cafés, and small shops. You can transfer dollars to euro before you travel or in Rome at any currency exchange office.
What do I need to travel? 🛂
For U.S. citizens, a valid passport is required for travel to Italy. Please ensure it’s valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. ✔️
Will there be Ubers in Rome ? 🚖
Yes! 🙌🏼 Uber is available in Rome. You can easily request one through the app, or, if you prefer, your hotel concierge can pre-arrange a private driver or taxi for you.
When will we go to Sorrento? 🍋 🇮🇹
After two days of events on September 13 & 14, and with plans to celebrate late into the night on the wedding day, we’ve intentionally set aside September 15 as a day to slow down and enjoy Rome at your own pace. We encourage you to use the day however you desire. Think spa day, long lunch, sightseeing, shopping, or simply sleeping in and soaking it all in. 😌
We’ll then head to Sorrento on September 16 for two more days of coastal views, beautiful scenery, and planned post-wedding celebrations along the Amalfi Coast. 😎👙
How do I get from Rome to Sorrento ? 🚊🚕
The most convenient option is to travel directly from Rome to Sorrento by private car, with an approximate drive time of 2.5 hours.
Another option is by train, from Rome to Naples, with one transfer in Naples to Sorrento.
Take a high-speed train from Rome (Roma Termini) to Naples (Napoli Centrale) using the Trenitalia app.
We recommend Frecciarossa or InterCity train. (Travel time is about 1–1.5 hours.)
Option 1 - Train #2 from Naples to Sorrento.
1. Once you arrive at Napoli Centrale, follow signs to the Circumvesuviana / Piazza Garibaldi train (located downstairs in the same station).
2. Take the Circumvesuviana train toward Sorrento. Trains run every 20–30 minutes. (Travel time is approximately 70–80 minutes.)
If you purchase your Rome–Naples ticket on the Trenitalia app, no ticket validation is needed — just show your QR code when asked.
⸻
Option 2: Taxi, Uber, or Private Transfer (Most Comfortable Option - will take you directly to your hotel or air bnb.)
This option is a bit more expensive but very convenient, especially if you have luggage.
Travel time is approximately 1–1.25 hours, depending on traffic.
Taxis, Uber, and private transfer services are readily available at Napoli Centrale Station or can be booked in advance.
Will there be gift preferences? 🎁
Your presence is the greatest gift and we do not expect any gifts. For those who truly wish to contribute, details will be shared on our registry page.
